He plays a troubled actor shooting a horror film. It's written and directed by Joshua Miller son of Jason Miller who played Father Karras in The Exorcist.

by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 28, 2024 12:13 PM |
Why Joshua Miller is probably making this movie (about movie sets being attacked by demonic forces):
—Multiple deaths during filming of The Exorcist
—Multiple injuries (Jason Patric, Miller's oldest son, was almost killed)
—Set burned down (only Regan's bedroom)
—Mercedes McCambridge son - family murder & suicide
I'm not saying the movie will be good, I'm just saying that there has been enough chatter about the happenings related to this movie that it's spawned a documentary and lots of actors (such as Ellen Burstyn) coming forward and saying that they believed the set was "under attack". It's a great premise for a movie.
Bottom line, there were way too many things that happened that cannot be easily explained away as coincidence. I know I won't convince the majority atheist audience here but it's what I believe. Along with many others.

Crowe was ok in the last exorcism movie he made as the motorcycle driving exorcist. He got better ink than the film got. His sidekick priest wasn't bad either. Maybe this will be a recurring character? Don't know much about this one but I'll see it for Russell.

Exorcism films no longer work because most of the Western world has turned against religion and especially the Catholic Church. It’s not frightening anymore. This stuff works on third world places where they don’t have money to see films.

I saw an interview with RC about "The Pope's Exorcist". Crowe said that he had no idea that there really is such a person - who Crowe met seeking some help with his character.
I remember that RC said he asked him which movie, if any, can closest to what really happened with actual exorcisms.
The response from the priest was "The Exorcist".

I hated this movie (Pope's Exorcism) and hated Crowe in it (I'm usually indifferent to him). Yet, weirdly, family and co-workers enjoyed it. Aside from the hot young Italian priest, there was nothing salvageable from this late-entry Conjuring knock-off.

Are you kidding me? That scooter probably accounted for half the film’s revenue. It made for a great marketing device. In fact when the director announced the sequel on Twitter, he told everyone to “gas up their Lambrettas.” The fans loved seeing the Father on his scooter and when they start running ads for the sequel, I guarantee that’s the first thing you’ll see.

'𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐭' (1973) gets such props because a couple of actual priests served as consultants on the film, and the actual wording of The Roman Ritual: The Rite of Exorcism was used verbatim by the actors.
None of that speaks to 'what really happens' at actual exorcisms, which isn't much. Certainly nothing supernatural.
